Meet Michelle.
Biography
Michelle DeLange is an abstract artist based in the Metro Detroit area. Upon graduating from Lawrence Tech University with a Bachelor of Interior Architecture, Michelle enjoyed running her own interior design business for seven years. After enjoying art as a creative outlet for some time, Michelle made the decision to pursue creating fine art full time. Her group exhibit entitled “Vellichor” took place at Studio Neue in Plymouth, Michigan in 2023. Michelle’s collections include Unearthed, Fractured and Grounded. She is currently working on her new collection inspired by the Japanese art of Wabi-Sabi.
Artist Statement
The interaction and play of unconventional materials on the canvas is what draws me in to create; unplanned and surprising, contrary to my routined and structured personality. It’s an exciting experiment each time I step into my studio where I leave control behind and explore the tactile world. Each layer is patiently waited for; each mark deliberately placed. Each piece is hardly planned as I begin, but always intentionally finished. My goal is to inspire those who seek my work to slow down, relish in the messy middle and discover that beauty can come from living with wild abandon.
